Deployment of 10,000 IoT Sensors Across Nigerian Farms
Major infrastructure milestone achieved as we complete the deployment of our IoT sensor network across 500 farms in 10 states.
Building Nigeria's Agricultural IoT Infrastructure
We're excited to announce the completion of our first major IoT sensor deployment, marking a significant milestone in our mission to digitize Nigerian agriculture.
Deployment Summary
- 10,000 IoT sensors deployed
- 500 farms covered across 10 states
- Coverage of 50,000+ hectares of farmland
- 24/7 monitoring of soil, weather, and crop conditions
Technology Stack
Our sensor network uses a combination of LoRaWAN and NB-IoT connectivity to ensure reliable data transmission even in remote areas. Solar-powered sensors can operate for years without maintenance, making them ideal for rural deployments.
Data Collection
Each sensor measures:
- Soil moisture at multiple depths
- Soil temperature and pH
- Ambient temperature and humidity
- Rainfall and light intensity
Impact on Farmers
Farmers with deployed sensors have reported significant improvements in their farming practices. Many have reduced irrigation costs by timing watering more precisely, while others have caught pest infestations early through anomaly detection.
Expansion Plans
We plan to deploy an additional 50,000 sensors across all 36 states by the end of 2026, creating the largest agricultural IoT network in West Africa.
